I don’t know much about addiction first hand, unless you insist on labeling my tendency to turn to Diet Coke and chocolate both for solace and for celebration a dependency all its own -- and Devlin O’Neill does, unfortunately, as he makes clear in his new book, “Paddle Therapy: Volume I of Maggie’s Strict Remedy.”It’s just one of the substance abuse issues the therapists who have been specially trained to help those caught in the addiction web deal with in his first book in this unique new series.
One of spanking fiction’s most prolific writers and easily at the top of the list of its most talented, O’Neill has opened the door to another pulse-galloping tale focusing on the application of palm and paddle -- along with occasional stripe-y belt and stingy-strap encounters -- for the benefit of adults looking for a way to escape a downward spiral and grab on to a chance to get their lives back on track.
The carefully managed treatment center in beautiful Virginia, to which Mr. Spanking Fiction himself introduces his readers in this initial story, is staffed by professionals who are adept both at responding to their clients’ needs and at finding the best way to handle some very human hungers of their own. As a result of this rich array of characters-in-need, O’Neill has a bonanza of stories to choose from when he allows his readers a look behind the scenes at Mandeval Rehabilitation Center.
These men and women at MRC are not simply adults bending over frontwards to titillate readers with spanking scenes -- hot and heavy as those are -- however. O’Neill has “listened” carefully as they shared their stories with him and has succeeded in presenting them as multi-dimensional individuals whose escapades will leave you wanting more once this book is finished
And, who knows, maybe there is even some wisdom in this volume that might one day be utilized outside a fictional setting. The “hell strap” in Aaron the Therapist’s strong hand sounds as though it just might make me learn to say “no” to my own weaknesses.
Fortunately, my addiction to Devlin O’Neill’s quite excellent spanking fiction is one I can handle just fine, so long as he keeps feeding my need with more stories of this unique approach to fighting the fiend. I just devoured this initial story and I find I can’t wait for Volume 2 and 3 and …

I had a good time reading this quirky & interesting serial novel. There is even a character that quite resembles the author and that made it even more exciting.
Maggie has so many layers. It is her strict method but she also longs to be little & not in control as well as the head administrator. Something many of us girls can relate to, those of us that read and indulge in spanking scenarios and/or a spanking relationship.
The added political piece is fun and gives it even more layers but one thing is for sure there is lots & lots of spanking and romance. I eagerly await the next installment!
Once again, Mr. O'Neill does not disappoint with his newest series. Volume One is a very intriguing story describing a somewhat unique idea for a remedy to addiction. In this story, one of the main characters, Aaron, is a strict man who cares enough to sort out the ones he watches over and helps bring balance back into their lives. Aaron's no-nonsense approach is stern, but fair. Nevertheless, Aaron is sensitive enough to show that this isn't just a job to him. Along with Aaron, there are other characters that make this story very well rounded. I am looking forward to many more volumes in the future. This is well worth the read!!
